Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks/tractors to pick up and deliver goods and materials.
Oversee all functions of vehicles: condition of equipment, loading and unloading, pre-trip inspections, safety and security of cargo (including inspection of tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, heated storage, tarping and binding, wrapping freight).
Attend to required paperwork, including bills of lading, customer documents and other shipping documents.
Responsible for planning travel schedules and routes using street maps and other trip planning aids.
Record cargo information, distance traveled, fuel consumption and other information.
Receive and relay information to central dispatch by use of various technologies including but not limited to cellular phone, radios and digital dispatch system (RDD).
Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness.
May transport hazardous products or dangerous goods.
Other duties as assigned.
