Orientation: Introductions, informational material, expectations, etc.
Basic Handling:
Purpose: Understanding those forces that affect the control of semi and twin trailer
Combination vehicles, control or loss of control and how to maintain control of the vehicle (friction, gravity, kinetic energy, center of gravity, force of impact). Learn the safe procedure for negotiating curves, descending steep down grades, and minimizing force of impact in a collision.
Twin Trailer Combination Vehicles:
Purpose: To introduce this configuration of CMV to the entry level CMV driver:
1. Handling characteristics
2 .Understanding Coupling & UN Coupling
3. Maneuvering, each trailer and Converter Dolly separately and as a combination

5. Jiff Lock procedures
Vehicle Inspection:
Purpose: Safe vehicles on the roadways are dependent on drivers being able to conduct vehicle inspections according to FMCSA regulations and company Policies & Procedures. Determine whether the vehicle is safe to drive or requires repairs to be completed prior to driving on the public roadways. The entry level CMV driver will have a combination of classroom and hands-on experience that will enable the driver to:
